The problems I fix
- Bookings and payments run on a tangle of apps. Calendly for scheduling, Stripe or a card machine for fees, a spreadsheet for who's paid, and a group chat to chase no-shows. None of it talks to each other and it eats hours every week.
- Your website looks like a hobby, not a business. Parents are handing you their child and their money. A slow, dated or template site quietly costs you trust before anyone fills in an enquiry form.
- You can't be found for what you actually teach. If you don't rank when a parent searches "maths tutor" in your area or "online HSC English", the enrolment goes to whoever does.
- Off-the-shelf platforms take a cut and lock you in. Tutoring marketplaces and course platforms charge per student or per transaction forever, own your customer relationship, and you can never leave with your data.
- Admin scales worse than teaching. Every new student adds invoicing, reminders, rescheduling and reporting. Without software built for it, growth just means more unpaid hours at a laptop.
- Term-based and recurring billing is genuinely fiddly. Pausing over holidays, sibling discounts, casual versus block bookings, paid memberships behind a paywall: generic tools handle this badly, if at all.
